Happy New Year, everyone! I’m so excited to kick off 2025 with my first blog post of the year. I hope your holidays were relaxing and filled with joy. Over the past few weeks, my Instagram feed has been filled with stunning holiday nail designs that have left me feeling inspired.
This year, one of my New Year’s resolutions is to keep my nails looking good all year long. Now that the holiday season is behind us, it’s the perfect time to look into what winter nail looks are trending for 2025!
In Winter 2025, we are likely to see trends of mixing classic elegant nail looks with a touch of modern flair. This season, celebrity nail artist Lisa Kon says it’s all about understated luxury. Think beyond bold pops of color and intricate designs.
In this blog post, we’ll explore some of the hottest winter nail trends for 2025! You can shop all of the nail polishes mentioned in this article here.
1. Mocha Mousse Nails

Pantone has officially named ‘Mocha Mousse’ the Color of the Year for 2025, making it a must-have shade for your nail collection. This versatile, warm nail color is not only sophisticated but also trendy, making it the perfect choice for any occasion. What makes ‘Mocha Mousse’ nail polish stand out is its ability to work as a stand-alone color. You can also use it as a beautiful french tip color as pictured above. Whether you’re dressing up for a night out or keeping it casual, this shade complements every outfit effortlessly!

2. Milky Pink Soap Nails

Selena Gomez’s nail artist has made a prediction for 2025 nail trends, and it’s all about “soap nails.” This clean and polished manicure style focuses on achieving the freshest, most natural look. “It’s all about the cleanest, freshest manicure that looks like it’s straight out of a spa day,” the celebrity nail artist recently shared.
Personally, I adore this trend for winter. The subtle, understated elegance of soap nails makes them perfect for the season, making them easy to complement with cozy sweaters and long coats. Plus, their minimalist vibe keeps your nails looking effortlessly polished. You can either use a white or pink polish to achieve this look depending on your preference!

3. Icy Blue Chrome Nails

Chrome nails are the ultimate way to elevate a simple nail color into something unique. For winter, icy blue chrome nails are an especially perfect choice as they remind me of a winter wonderland. This is a modern and edgy nail look that is unique and works perfectly for the colder months.
One way you can achieve this look is by applying a deep green shade such as Essie’s ‘Off Tropic’ nail polish as a base color and then topping that off with Essie’s ‘Cosmic Chrome’ nail polish!

4. Star-Studded Nail Look

When I came across this nail look on my Instagram feed, I had to share! I absolutely love this simple yet bold nail look. While achieving this look might require a trip to the salon, it’s absolutely worth it for the stunning results. If you want to skip the trip to the salon, there are also lots of star press-on nail options such as the one pictured below!

5. Cherry Red Classic Nails

A deep red nail color is a classic that never goes out of style, especially during the winter months. This timeless and chic shade pairs beautifully with shorter nails, offering a sophisticated yet effortless look. One of the best things about cherry red nails is how they add a pop of color to any neutral outfit, making them a versatile choice for every occasion. To achieve this elegant manicure, try Dior’s ‘047 Nuit 1947’ or OPI’s ‘Amore at the Grand Canal’—both stunning options that deliver rich, vibrant color perfect for the season.

6. 3D Nail Art

One of the coolest nail trends predicted for 2025 is 3D art nail looks. I have already seen some of these looks starting and it amazes me when I see how intricate these nails are. This trend features intricate designs like pearls, gemstones, metallic accents, and sculpted shapes that add texture and dimension to your nails.
If you want to make a statement this winter, this is your sign to get 3D nail art. It can be a great way to express your personality and creativity. Check out some ideas below for 3D nail art you can get done at the salon in the upcoming weeks.

7. Glass Velvet Nails

Glass velvet nails and cat eye nails are two nail art looks that are currently trending in the beauty world. Glass velvet nails give the effect of a frost, while the cat eye polish uses a magnet and creates a shimmering effect. When together, these nail styles create a striking combination that can be perfect for someone looking for a unique look.
If you’re looking to achieve this look, I learned a lot about glass velvet nails through this Refinery29 article. This nail look can be recreated at home, but for flawless results, I highly recommend treating yourself to a visit to the nail salon!

8. Black and White Coquette

Although coquette was a standout trend in 2024, I love the idea of giving the feminine pink coquette bow style twist by reimagining it in black and white. This nail look is a bit edgy while also being super girly and chic. Below are some inspo pics you can show your nail artist if you want to rock the black and white coquette look this winter!

9. Framed Glitter Nails

Are you someone who typically loves a subtle nail look, but also want to try a more edgy look this new year? One way to spice up a simple manicure is to add a glitter frame around the border of the nail! This detailing is a modern beauty trend that I think we will see a lot more of in 2025. You can choose any glitter color to match your outfit.
The key to this look is a chunky glitter polish. Two of my favorite chunky glitter polishes you can use for the border of your nails are the Kiara Sky gold sprinkle glitter in the shade ‘Deja Brew,’ and Sally Hansen’s Insta Dri polish in the shade ‘Shooting Star.’

10. Chrome French Tips

I love the timeless elegance of the French nail look. What makes French nails so versatile is their ability to complement any outfit and suit any occasion, effortlessly transitioning through every season of the year. In 2025, elevate the classic French manicure by adding a sleek chrome layer to the tips. This subtle update adds a touch of glamour and sophistication to an already beautiful nail look.
If you know anyone getting engaged or married this winter season, you might want to encourage them to try these nails!
